Sir:-
I am directed by Secretary Sir Edward Grey to ac-
Voo knowledge the receipt of your letter 37188/1907 of the
25th. ultimo "with regard to the possibility of making
arrangements with the Portuguese Government for the re-
ciprocal enforcement of judgments of the Courts in Hong
Kong and Macao", and enclosing a copy of a letter from
the Chief Justice of Hong Kong to the Governor of that
Colony with suggestions on the subject.
Sir Edward Grey gathers however from the Gover-
nor's despatch that the only specific point presented
for consideration is that which is mentioned in $4 of
his despatch, vízt: the simplification, if possible, of
the procedure in the Macao Courts.
It is suggested that this might be effected by
endeavour ing to induce the Portuguese Government to
make arrangements under which judgments delivered by
the
